Twenty-four Nonprofits Receive Free Technology Assessments Through NPower Indiana's "Technology Health Program for Nonprofits"
INDIANAPOLIS – Twenty-four local nonprofits will receive free technology assessments -- each worth more than $2,000 -- through NPower Indiana’s “Technology Health Program for Nonprofits.” Combined, these central Indiana nonprofits will receive nearly $54,000 in technology consultation services at no cost to the organizations. The Indianapolis-based nonprofit technology solutions provider, along with Verizon and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana, selected the organizations based on a needs assessment and how closely their missions aligned with the funding priorities of Verizon (domestic violence prevention and literacy) and Anthem (Indianapolis-area United Way agencies). This program expands on the successful Stable & Secure Technology Assessment outreach efforts delivered by NPower Indiana in 2007, also with support from Verizon and Anthem. The free program includes a Technology Checkup, a Tech Strengthening Plan and a Tech Health Consultation for each nonprofit. The checkup, based on NPower’s Stable & Secure Technology Assessment, evaluates organizations’ IT infrastructures against 14 benchmarks and includes standards for hardware, software, security, documentation and more. “It is imperative that nonprofit organizations utilize technology to its fullest in order to achieve efficiencies and to maximize their impact in the community,” said Matt Kelley, director of public affairs, policy and communications for Verizon. “Verizon is honored to support NPower’s mission to connect nonprofits with technology resources that they might not otherwise be able to afford.” The Technology Health Program for Nonprofits initiative will address common technology issues to help organizations improve their productivity and service delivery in the communities they support. From the information generated from the Stable & Secure Technology Assessment, organizations will be able to recognize ways to increase their operating efficiency and extend the life of their current equipment, and to support future technology solutions within their community and service programs. “Anthem is pleased to connect Indiana’s United Way agencies with the Technology Health Program,” said Rob Hillman, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana. “By supporting the work of NPower, we are able to extend our impact to substantially more organizations than we can reach on an individual basis.” “Running a successful nonprofit has always had its share of unique challenges, but in today’s economy, the situation is more trying than ever,” said John Fallon, NPower CEO. “Through the utilization of up-to-date and efficient technology resources, organizations can accomplish more on a restricted budget and realize enhanced mission delivery – leading to greater community impact.” For more information about NPower Indiana, the Stable & Secure Technology Assessment, and other services provided, visit www.NPowerIN.org. # # # About Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the trade name of Anthem Insurance Companies, Inc., an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
